The first module of the programme will be held this Saturday October 3rd and will be followed by the next two days to be held onFriday October 16th and Saturday October 17th. These sessions will run from 11am – 4.30 pm in the Lantern Centre, 17 Synge Street Dublin 8. Please let me know in advance if you are not able to attend on one of these days – so I can organize my numbers re copying and catering.
The Lantern Centre is located in a basement entrance, on 17 Synge Street, just on the block beside the Church and the Christian Brothers School on Synge Street, which is just down from South Circular Road and one block over from Camden Street. If you are taking the bus from town you can take any bus that travels up Camden Street to the South Circular Road and get off at “Kellys Corner Stop” which is at the corner of Synge Street (buses 16, 19, 83, 122 etc – check on www.dublinbus.ie for information on routes). These three dates will include an exploration of
· Understanding Group Formation – theory and practice from a Community Development perspective
· Approaches to encouraging participation and equality in group development
· How to define the vision, mission, aims & objectives for your organisation
· Practical steps in getting your organisation started and established including tips on writing a constitution, Memo and Articles, information on register as a company, etc.
· Understanding roles &responsibilities in groups, boards, etc.
· Information on governance, boards and organisational structures
· Information on developing project planning and undertaking strategic planning processes.
The final two dates of the program will be later in the year, will focus on fundraising and financial management as well as an introduction to key organisations and supports in your region. The dates and suggestions for content on these modules will be set with participants following the third day.
We will offer you a lunch on the day as well as tea/coffee breaks to network together.
An important element of the program is peer learning and networking and we hope that during the course you will share learning from your organisations efforts and bring along any materials you may have developed on your work. We also ask that each applicant work to transfer on the learning from the program to their whole organisation and work to apply their learning to the organisational development efforts.
